AHA Glycolic Peeling Gel
Some people have worked their way through scrubs and acids and given up again. Either it stung, or the skin went tight and flaked afterwards, and it did not seem worth the trouble.
It is rarely the acid itself. It is everything else in the bottle: fragrance, colour, thickeners, and a pH that has not been set where it should be.
AHA Glycolic Peeling Gel is seven ingredients in total, and four of them are there purely to keep the acid working the way it should. 10% glycolic acid at pH 3.8 loosens the dead cells from the surface. Higher and it does nothing; lower and it burns. Expect brighter, smoother skin and fewer visible marks within a few weeks. Fine lines soften as the surface renews.
Betaine, taken from sugar beet, and glycerin hold moisture in while it works, which is what prevents the tightness and flaking. Nothing has been added for texture, scent or shelf appeal, which is why the list is this short.
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin two to three evenings a week and leave it on. It is neither rinsed off nor scrubbed in. Avoid the eye area, and wear SPF 30 or higher during the day, as freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to sun.
Vegan and fragrance-free.
This is a limited stock item supplied without its outer carton. The product itself is unchanged.

Significantly clearer skin after 45 days, against placebo
Fewer clogged pores, and smoother texture as renewal picks up
As well tolerated as placebo, with no difference in reported side effects
Visibly brighter skin
Glycolic acid at 10% in 115 people, randomised, double-blind and placebo-controlled, applied once nightly and graded by a physician at 45 days. Results vary from person to person.
Glycolic Acid 10%. The smallest AHA molecule, which is why it resurfaces evenly rather than just polishing the top layer. At pH 3.8, the level where it actually works.
Betaine. Derived from sugar beet. Holds moisture in the skin while the acid works, which is what prevents the tightness afterwards.
Glycerin. Draws water into the skin and keeps it comfortable through regular exfoliation.

Materials and recycling
Packaging is the part of the product you throw away. That is why we spend time on it.
At least 50% of the plastic in our bottles and tubes is post-consumer recycled: plastic that has already been used and collected, rather than newly made. The rest is virgin plastic, and we work to bring that share down.
Not everything is plastic. Some products come in glass, others in aluminium that is itself recycled material. Both can be melted down and used again many times over.
Our outer cartons are paper.
How to sort it
Plastic bottles, tubes, pumps and caps: plastic. They do not need to be clean.
Glass bottles: glass.
Aluminium tubes: metal.
The carton: paper.
We are not there yet. Half of our plastic is still virgin, and that is the half we are working on.
