Some ingredients impress with numbers. Squalane impresses with manners. It softens, absorbs quickly, leaves no film and sits easily alongside almost everything. If skincare had a diplomat, this would be it.
What is squalane?
Squalane is the stable form of squalene, a lipid your skin produces naturally as part of its own sebum. That family resemblance is the whole point: because skin recognises it, squalane sinks in rather than sitting on top, softening and smoothing without heaviness.
What does it do?
Squalane is an emollient: it fills the gaps between skin cells, leaving the surface soft, flexible and comfortable. It supports the skin's own moisture barrier, reduces the tight feeling after cleansing, and gives formulas a silky finish without a trace of grease. It is also remarkably tolerant company, comfortable alongside acids, retinoids and everything in between.
Who is it for?
Everyone, honestly. Dry skin gets the softness it is missing. Oily skin gets moisture without the shine, because squalane is lightweight and non-comedogenic. Sensitive skin gets one of the least reactive lipids in all of skincare.
Squalane the Jorgobé way
You will find squalane running quietly through our range, from serums to moisturisers, wherever a formula needs comfort without weight. In our Balancing Complex Moisturiser, squalane is part of what lets one cream soften dry cheeks without adding shine to the T-zone. Like everything we make, it is vegan, made in Denmark, and free from parabens and silicones.
