What is centella asiatica?

Centella asiatica is a herb with a long tradition in skincare, where it has been used on irritated skin for centuries. You may know it as cica, the ingredient behind an entire category of soothing creams. Its active compounds, including madecassoside, calm visible redness and support the skin's own repair processes, which is why centella suits skin that is stressed, reactive or recovering from too much of everything else.

What does the research show?

In a clinical study of the centella complex we use, cheek redness measurably decreased, with 30.8% less blood flow in the cheek after six weeks. That is the mechanism behind what you see in the mirror: skin that flushes less, reacts less and looks calmer over time.

Who is it for?

Reactive and redness-prone skin first of all, but also anyone whose barrier has taken a beating: over-exfoliation, harsh winters, or a routine that grew too ambitious. Centella is also the classic partner for stronger actives, calming the skin while retinoids or acids do their work on other evenings.
