BHA Exfoliator
BHA Exfoliator is the liquid exfoliant for clearer pores and fewer blackheads. The liquid works inside the pore, where sebum and dead cells collect, and loosens the congestion, so skin feels clean without feeling tight.
Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, so it can travel down into the pore and dissolve the mix of sebum and dead skin cells behind blackheads. An ordinary face wash never reaches that far. In studies, 2% salicylic acid gave fewer blackheads than placebo over 12 weeks. That 2% is the highest level of salicylic acid the EU allows in facial products. Liquorice root soothes the skin, so clearing congestion does not leave you dry and irritated instead.
Apply with a cotton pad to clean, dry skin one to three evenings a week, starting at the lower end. There is nothing to rinse off. Wear SPF 30 or higher during the day. Fragrance-free and alcohol-free. Suitable for all skin types. BHA Exfoliator is part of three of our regimens: for oily skin, for blemishes and for pores and blackheads. Materials and recycling
Packaging is the part of the product you throw away. That is why we spend time on it.
The tube itself on Niacinamide Serum is made with 63% post-consumer recycled plastic: plastic that has already been used and collected, rather than newly made. The cap, and the rest of our bottles and tubes, are still virgin plastic, and that is the part we are working on.
Not everything is plastic. Some products come in glass, others in aluminium. The aluminium in the Niacinamide Hand Balm tube is 95% recycled. Both can be melted down and used again many times over.
Our outer cartons are paper.
How to sort it
Plastic bottles, tubes, pumps and caps: plastic. They do not need to be clean.

Why it works
The difference between AHA and BHA is that AHA works on the surface, while BHA dissolves in oil and so gets down into the pore. Blackheads sit in the pore, so an acid that only works on the surface cannot clear them.
